Galatians 1:6-10
"6 I am amazed that you are so quickly deserting Him who called you by the grace of Christ, for a different gospel, 7 which is not just another account; but there are some who are disturbing you and want to distort the gospel of Christ. 8 But even if we, or an angel from heaven, should preach to you a gospel contrary to what we have preached to you, he is to be accursed! 9 As we have said before, even now I say again: if anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to what you received, he is to be accursed!
10 For am I now seeking the favor of people, or of God? Or am I striving to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a bond-servant of Christ."
What is the biggest problem in the Church today?
Some want to say it is narrow mindedness.
Some want to say it is hypocrisy.
Still others will tell you that it is non-inclusiveness.
In the end, they are all wrong, and they all go against Galatians 1 directly.
Universalism has become so prevalent in our culture that even those who call themselves "Christian" have come to embrace it in large scale. They say things like, "all paths lead to God," or, "God is love, and a loving God could not send anyone to Hell." I have even heard multi-decade "believers" say that God "accepts" our sin as a part of us because of Christ's sacrifice.
No, no, and ten thousand times, NO!
If you have that mindset, I beg you to seek the Father because there is something fundamentally wrong/missing with your salvific experience. No one who has come face to face with the almighty and saving God, knowing the depth of their own sinfulness, can walk away believing that He does not control the fullness of right and wrong. If they do, then there is no way that they truly understood the depths of their own sinfulness.
The Gospel that Paul preached was Christ Crucified, Christ Raised, Christ Justifying, and the Holy Spirit Sanctifying; and as he wrote above, if anyone else tries to teach you or to preach to you something else, then they are not of the Father.
Without Christ there is no salvation, without salvation there is no fruit of the spirit nor holiness, without fruit or holiness, there is no communion because we cannot allow acceptance of sin to dwell among us and to influence us as a member of our congregation.
As someone who attends and listens? Yes.
As someone who votes and participates in the church as a member? No.
We have a responsibility to protect the body of believers, and particularly our young people from the corrupting influence of those who want us to accept sin and call it love.
Universalism prevents us from that because it falsely assures us that everyone will be saved and that everyone's actions are okay.
Things only come from one of two sources, God, or the enemy.
Since we know this is not of God...
Well, you can figure out the last line on your own.
